I had a black 2006 Si, and while I had the attention span (and nerves of steel) to deal with Zaino'ing it every other weekend (washing at least once a week) to keep it MINT... after just over a year, I've made the lifelong decision never to go with a black car again. It looks absolutely the best when detailed properly (I'm talking about 10+ hrs on a long weekend). But black tends to little hide details in the bodywork.

Oh, and HAVE YOU SEEN how easily black shows door dings!?

So... I went with Sebring on the s2k, and I couldn't be happier. With the right effort, you can get it to sparkle, you can get away with washing once every 2 weeks, doesn't show dings nearly as easily. Can look classy, sporty, calm, you name it.

Sebring FTW

with that said though...

if AP1's were white with black exterior, or if the yellow was the RIGHT yellow... then i would've gone with those first.

and, if they made it in championship white, i would've gotten that with puke green or pink interior.

Red: Probably wouldn't mind too much with a red S2K. But I think they look best on cars with flipup lights or exotic cars.

Blue: Unless Suzuka blue was 10 grand cheaper than a different color S2K, you wouldn't catch me in one along with that horrible interior color. Laguna blue is damn hot though.

White: Classy, my first choice, but I don't dig the red interior at all. And I couldn't afford the 03+ models with tan or black interior.

Yellow: Spa is nice, Rio is even better. But I'd get tired of the color after a few months.

Black: I'm a perfectionist with my cars and I hate how my car will magically have swirls and scratches a few weeks later. Argh

Silver: Nothing spectacular, pretty common S2K color.

I'll just stick with my black AP1 but if something happens to it, then I'll upgrade to a Laguna or White/black interior '06 AP2.

my thought process.

Black. I already drive a black civic.

suzuka isnt my thing. I love laguna but the dealer didnt have a used one.

yellow was my first choice. I'm fine the "hey look at that yellow car" attention it only last a second anyway.

red was my third and I almost got one from glendale honda via ebay. but the idiots at glendale honda bid me out (a bit shady)

sliverstone is nice but i never found one with my required miles/$

sebring was my last. just a very plain shade of gray. but the one I found had a red/black interior which set off the color really nice.

I wish they had some sort of custom ordering for new models.

Since they make them in the same factory as the element I'd like some of those color options.

atomic blue metallic ftw.

Silver
Red
Yellow
White
Black

All Beautiful colors, but too common.

I wanted a color that not many people had which is why I chose Laguna Blue.

NFR- Was my second choice. Red is timeless on a sportscar

Spa?Rio- I'm not the biggest fan of yellow

BB- I don't have the patience for a black car and it can hide some of the car's lines

Suzuka- I always liked Suzuka but it can look pretty dull if it's not in the right sunlight

LBP- Love this color but I wanted an AP1. If I were getting an AP2 this would probably be my second choice

Silverstone/Sebring- Silver looks incredibly clean, especially with clear sidemarkers and headlights. The first s2000 I remember seeing is a Silverstone w/ black and red interior. I always liked this combo and silverstone is a great shade of silver, but at the end of the day it's still silver and I wanted something different

GPW- When I saw the 02 GPW I knew it was the right color for me. I don't know if I would have gotten a GPW if it wasn't an 02. For me, the red interior just fits the car perfectly. I have the clean look of a white car, but also a little bit of aggressiveness with the interior. I like to think of my car as a beautiful redhead. The rest of her may not stand out so much when compared with another beautiful girl but it's her red hair that grabs your attention. GPW doesn't stand out too much but the red interior really catches your eye.

On the surface, choosing a color looks easy, but there are sooooo many factors to consider...like the following!!! You would have to consider each point in order to really get it right and fully understand your decision.

1) color (there are only a few actual primary colors you can choose from, the rest are shades and various combinations off the stuff below)

2) shade (Suzuka versus Laguna, Sebring vs. Silverstone, Rio versus Spa, see what a difference only a change in shade makes even for the same color?)

3) reflectiveness (black absorbs light, therefore hides stuff, a secret, women have been using forever to create the illusion of a slimmer figure)

4) texture (bumpy, smooth, flat or metallic for instance, white and black are flat and look dull...there are no metal flakes in them to give it some texture)

5) meaning (example, red means aggression and passion, probably why sports car come in red and work so well with it)

6) cut (certain colors work better with certain curves, angles, patterns, lines. The S is "cut" with smooth non aggressive lines, therefore a heavier color to offset it would be better, see below for weight)

7) coordination (black for instance looks great in combo with any other color, as does white and gray, because they are considered "neutral" colors)

8) weight (black looks and feels heavier than say white, lighter colors "look" lighter, prob why most people don't like Suzuka, Rio and Sebring, they made the S look too light)

9) status (purple was used by French royalty because purple dye was hard to make and rare in nature, therefore exclusive and expensive)

10) pattern (any patterns in color? checkered, stripes, honeycomb etc...patterns guides the eye and creates illusions...like the grill with long lines across it, it creates illusions of length, makes it look longer than it actually is. Same reason women wear a dress in a single color with no patterns, there is no break, so it creates the illusion that it is longer. Lines in shirts, pants, belts...they are all there to make you "look" shorter or longer etc, it's no different in a car)
