I am not sure if it is the same but I have a sound when I press in the cluth just after starting it up in the morning and backing out. When you are in reverse and then push the clutch in, there will be a click/thump noise. I only happens just after start up and goes away when the car is warm.

Is the tranny cold or has it been running for a while? If it's cold, your idle may be elavated (>2000 rpm) and you may be shoving it into gear too fast. Try doing it a bit slower so your gearbox can stop spinning at a more reasonable rate. A certain amount of "noise" is normal. After all it is a mechanical device.

Former: Same answer for you. If this doesn't help, then try to put it into a forward gear (any gear) mometarily (keep clutch down the whole time) before putting it into reverse. I don't think this car's reverse has any synchros so if you throw it into reverse too fast after you depress the clutch (when cold), the tranny is still spinning and you might get that "crunch" when it goes into reverse. I think this will become less of an issue as you put more km's on the car.

the car is already warmed up it happens sometimes but not all the time. ok lets say your driving down the road and you come to a stop light and u take it out of gear so its in nuetral and u take your foot off the clutch. ok now you have came to a complete stop, now you push the cltuch in and as you put it into first ( or any gear i was trying it to see if it does it in all gears and it does) and a slight little thump noise occurs it sounds like its comming from the rear of the car. also are the s's tranny's noisey??

thanx

Yup that is it .. Cold Start..reverse.. and right when the clutch reaches the "Friction point" ..::THUMP::

My tranny is usually warmed up since I row the gears and wait till about two bars before leaving. It isn't an issue about going into gear and hearing a crunch. You're backing out in reverse already and when you push the clutch in to near the friction point, it will make a thump but the slower you press the cluth in the less the thump. It isn't really an problem just another quirk with the car
