TTSupra - that's definitely a relief. Whew! I haven't heard from anyone else of this occurence though. I think I'll take mine in anyway just to be safe.

Go for it its worth it so you feel better. I dunno how many miles you have but i have heard of the stock clutches being a little weak so everytime i bring it in i say the clutch feels a littler high since i bought it so they document it and if it ever goes early then maybe i can get a new one under warrenty.

I have the same thing. It very much reminds me of the way my Honda bike engaged.. (bought it new..1970 350 CL). Just after clicking the toe lever, you would hear and feel the thunk. It's a four wheel bike from Honda. I believe it's normal.

My car only "thumps" at startup.

The engine doesn't seem to sputter to life, it feels more like a bang!

Hi folks!

I know I am more than just a little bit late on this one, but I haven't been able to find any newer threads describing exactly this problem.

I have the exact same issues with my '00 S2K. A thump which feels like it comes from the rear, noticeable when engaging 1st, 2nd, 3rd from neutral and while car is standing still or rolling slowly forward.

My dealer told me today that they will read through some documentation which they have received from Honda Motor Europe in connection with these symptoms, and might offer to change the gearbox At least the technician I have been speaking to quite a bit re this, sounded optimistic about offering a new box.

Have anyone else had their box replaced or had any other cure for this?

Agree it could remind a bit of a motorcycle gearbox but I don't at all feel it should be regarded as a normal 'feature of the car' which in my opinion is usually just a poor excuse used by the dealers when they don't know their stuff.....

Regards,
Simen.

are we not talking about the issue of replacing, greasing, re-torqueing and staking the rear axle spindle nuts?

i have the thump also and i believe there are already numerous threads and possibly a tsb about this.

it is intermitent and i am just curious if it is harmful to the drivetrain. seems to do it when it feels like it. i cannot intentionally duplicate the condition.

Hi Kenny,

No That's a different issue which I also had, but it's now removed by re-torqueing the axle nuts.

This thump is felt when the gears are being engaged from neutral, although clutch pedal is fully pressed down.

I've had this thump only once when engaging 1st from neutral at a stop with clutch fully in. I don't think I have a problem but if it ever happens again I'll reconsider
