Nothing is wrong.
I am not a gear head by any stretch of the imagination, but I believe that when you put the car in gear it causes the gears to mate-up (if you will), which causes the drive shaft to turn ever so slightly....enough to cause the differential to move.
Have you ever seen a trucks drive-shaft as the operator puts it in gear? It moves slightly and makes that noise.
Some one else may need to chime in here.

does it sound like it's coming from the rear of the car? i have this problem once in awhile, and i think a few other do as well. if i remember right, it's from putting the clutch in, not the stick...?
