Took off bypass valve on AEM CAI
What's up guys and gals.
I took off my bypass valve on my AEM CAI yesterday. I did this, because people have been reporting that the bypass valve almost negates the gains of the CAI. Soooo, I take it off, and join the tubes again. I get in the car, take it for a ride.
You guys been holdin out on me! The sound is SOO much more aggresive sounding than with the bypass valve. Talk about THROATY. Sounds X-rated, hahaha. I know the car sounds nicer, and I'm trying to figure out if there is actually an increase in performance. It's so hard to tell with the sound telling me that i feel a difference. I can only assume that since other people have shown with a dyno that the bypass valve negates the gains, then I guess I got the gains back.
Just thought I would tell people about this. If you have a bypass valve, and don't run the risk of hydrolock, I would say, try taking it off. But I must stress...do it at your own risk...the bypass valve is there for a reason, if you take it off, you could suck up water, and that would be baaaad.
PAYCE,
Tom

I think that if you are responsible driver that you should have no trouble without the valve. I had a aem cai on my gsr for over 3yrs, and went through many rainy/snowy/ and just plain old bad weather with it, and I never had any trouble.
