I don't leave top down. Dust, bird shiat, and seat theft are enough to persuade me to spend that few seconds.
However, one thing though, I do not secure the latches to the strikers when I park with top up in sunny days or in a covered parking lot. I'm lazy, and this also gives me the flexibility to drive the car off immediately (since I have the top down mod).
