Default Top Slashed last nigh

Got back to my car last night and found a nice 4 inch by 5 inch L shaped slit in the top. Nothing stolen luckily, but it's raining and I need to get it fixed.

Can it be repaired or do I need a new top? Can I just take it to one of those Vinyl repair shops?

If I report it to the insurance and the top does need replacing, is there any way I can get an 02-03 top instead of 01 plastic window like I have now? I'm not too keen on making a claim on the insurance as I don't know if Geico will up my rates in addition to the $500 deductible I'll have to pay. I was thinking I'd just buy a top with a glass window and install it myself.

Thanks for any help/suggestions.

My top had a rip in it some time ago, and from the upholstery shops I spoke with, I don't believe slashed tops can be repaired. My guess is you'll need a new one.

There are a number of threads on retrofitting the '02+ tops onto '00 and '01 cars. Search the archives and they should be easy to find.

Ya, my friend's smart suggestion was to spraypaint the duct tape black.

thanks...

Dont feel bad. My new 04 was hit in a parking lot, of course no one left a note. Over $1K to repair. I just hope that I catch one of these inconsiderate bastards one day.

I really need to get the CRX fixed so I don't have to drive the S2k all over town, then I wouldn't have to worry about it anymore.

Yes, I was thanking God when I saw the stereo and seats were still there.
