02 top for 00 or 01?
Just wondering if the new top with the glass window will fit older models? I am close to buyng a used 00. The owner is getting a new top under insurance but the insurance company said they can not guarantee for leaks because the differences in year. Plus will the defroster work as well?
This has been talked about many times on the board. You can't intercahnge the tops without a lot of modification to the frame and expense. It's not just a simple matter of replacing the plastic window with the glass one.
Looks like I'll be getting the car with a new top with a plastic window. Thanks for the replies learning a lot from the posts on these boards. Sorry about the newbie questions. Hopefully I'll have the car next week! Can't wait.

This is utter tripe. I've got the service manual, and from what I can tell, it _is_ possible. The frame has the same dimensions, and mounts identically to the chassis. It'll be easier on 2001's, since they already have most of the wiring harness in place for the rear defroster, but there's no reaso it wouldn't work on 2000's. The biggest problem is shelling out the $1200 for the new top and backglass, plus the labor involved. Additionally, you'd want to replace the front stiker plates (on the windshield frame) and probably the roof latches, but that's not difficult either. At some point, I'm probably going to give it a whirl...
I think I'll stick to the plastic window for now. Sounds like a lot of work just to get a glass window. I'd translate the ad for you but my Japanese is not that good. Please let me know about your results for the factory or aftermkt. window. Thanks for the info.
