Also, depending on how accurate the tach is a couple hundred rpm can equal a big difference in speed.

Somebody at a Chevy dealership asked me how high the speedo went up to. I said the digital readout should be able to display a 999mph top speed!

Keep those engine mods coming for the S2000. Honda planned ahead!

 

Im sure the Tach wouldnt be out that much.

At a guess some things which would affect top speed more than driving 'down hill' would be wind direction, temperature / altitude as Im sure that air desnisty is far more important than a down hill run(the old power^2 rule).

Im sure that worn tyres would play a part to an extent, even a couple of mm would give a distinct change in recorded speed.

Maybe im wrong through.

 

The tach may not be off much but how do you read one of those lines? Is 6000rpm indicated RIGHT when that one line lights up? Assume it does, then youll be at 6100rpm without the next on . . . that could be 5mph.

What matteres is what the exact rpm is that the limiter hits? My light blinks at 9000 but it will keep going a slight bit before the limiter actually cuts fuel.
