Default Top Speed Limiter for the '02?

I searched but didn't find anything conclusive. Do any '02 owners have a top speed limiter kicking in at 115 mph?

As far as USDM goes... HELL NO. I have been over 150 ( a little too fast for stock IMO) in an 02 stock before.

Interesting thought...

Isn't 115mph around the VTEC transition speed in 6th? Possible that whoever you heard this from was trying to go fast when the engine wasn't warm... or something.

Heh...actually, I was doing a canyon run this weekend and found a very nice long stretch of level road and it wouldn't go past 115. The car was very warmed up as I'd been driving for 45 minutes by that point. Mind you, the car has only 1200 miles on it. Just an off the wall guess here but do you think there may be a limiter that de-activates after a set number of miles?

the top of fourth could be rated around 115mph depending on tire tread depth. so, most likely you were topping out fourth gear.

NOPE, got an 02 here, ran it up to 140mph, where 5th gear runs out of RPM's. Louder then hell with the top down, and IMO by time ya shift into 6th at that speed, pull is a bit slow.

V8-What?

P.S. I have read that the top speed is 170 !!!! Any links to a video of this, would take one long road to get there.

you may have hit an aerodynamic wall........

it happens sometimes (depending on wind speed and direction)

it's happened to me before.....not as low as 115, more like 125......but then again, i've also been above 150....

different days bring different speed

What are you doing 115 MPH on the public road anyway? Are there any on coming traffic? Do you know what your body will look like when you hit something sideways doing 115? I totaled my first S (Killed a street light! Yea, chopped right down in the rain with my car) doing only little bit over 60 MPH

I remember shifting from 4th to 5th right around 110 MPH and went over 130 MPH on the track! (Not sure how fast, but over 130 for sure. At least that's what my instructor said) BTW, that was in 5th! I never had time to shift to 6th; it was time to down shift to 3rd into the turn on the track!

Take the speed on the track! You won't be sorry, you'll enjoy it even more!
