I have had my 02 Suzuka Blue over 135mph twice now. I only have 6,000 miles on the odometer. I do know that in 5th gear vtec engages at 100 mph. You would need alot of road to make it to 150mph. I will keep trying

Hi guys,

having no speedlimit on our lovely Autobahns I just drove home from work with the roof down at max. 235 km/h (~ 145 mph). With the roof up my car does somewhere around 250 km/h (~ 155 mph).

According to the speedo, that is. And yes, it is a MY2002.

BTW: Don't try this at home . There are Autobahns and/or track days for this.

Hehehehehe. . .115. . .it should!

I read somewhere that you should hit the century mark each and every day for optimal performance!

I went to my dealer last week to have my brake pads and rotors checked after a track day at Spa Francorchamps.

When hearing my engine the chief mechanic told how much smoother the engines of S2000s sound that get pushed really hard sometimes. He said that there was a really noticeable difference to engines of S2Ks only used as a 'nice looking convertible'.

I got an '02 and hit 120 this weekend on a great clear stretch of road with no one around. Never got anywhere near 6th. No rev limiter here. Then I hit the brakes. What a car!!! Can't wait to go to the track at the end of next month!!!

I haven't been over 120 yet.

I would think the top speed would be something like 165'ish at redline. I look at what speed I'm doing in 6th at 4,500RPM and double it. I think it was 83MPH, which makes 166MPH at 9,000RPM. Yeah, that's unscientific, but a reasonable guess.

The conditions were fairly safe considering:

- Long wide open road you could see for 2-3 miles with absolutely nothing to the right or left. It was a desert road after I just got through a mountain pass. Absolutely no cars for miles. Just me, the S2K, the sun and the road.

- Top down (had to do it )

- 6th gear

- Stock airbox cover off (sounds amazing!...why buy a CAI? I'll have a hard time justifying a CAI)

My other guess is that I didn't exploit 5th gear to it's fullest and as a result, the car didn't have enough revs to pull it past 115 or so. I'll test this out again when the time is right in the same place in a week or two.

Now I have to see this video you guys mentioned. it was probably a SC/Turbo S2k.

Yea it does sound awesome with the box taken off.
How much of a difference would an aftermarket cai opposed to the stock intake w/ out the box?

This makes me sick. To be able to drive on that track would be absolutely amazing. How was Eau Rouge in the S?
