Just so you know 164 is quite stable, I was able to hold the speed for approx 3 minutes before I caught up with the lead car. We found a great road out in the middle on nowhere off the freeway, waited till about 3:00 in the afternoon, ran a car up ahead to scout to make sure nobody was on the road going in any direction and that there were no feeder roads and we tried it. Cars fine at that speed, ires can be a issue and don't hit the center devide little bumps inbetween the lanes, they have enough jarring effect at this speed to flip the car.
164 is real stupid to do though in anything other then the best situtations. I will never do it again but I had to end the argument of how fast the car would go for myself.
Most people chicken out around 120 or so because they read the road a little different then most. I forget what the exact number was but at ~160 you cover a football field a second or so, if you are not used to the speed that the road is persenting you can get in real trouble real fast.
A real quick reality check, at freeway speeds most people can control ~90 or so mph, take the to 120 and they just don't get how fast the other cars ahead come up. so don't drive fast on the freeway, on a barren road where all I can hurt is yourself is a little ok but on more active roads don't even think about it.

The 02' will do 140mph with no question, however, the 00'-01' is the true race car according to Honda. They say the 02' focused on soomthing out the roughness from 00'-01', namely a rock hard suspension that knocked your teeth out while driving. I know the 00' Anti-sway bar is allot more aggressive than the 02', also the 00' seems lighter. I had an 02' for about 2 weeks so I should know as I have personally experienced the 02'. The 02' is a much BETTER all around car, more solid, better stereo, rear glass, tweeters, and when you drive over a bump the car almost absorbs the bump like an Accord, waaaaaay smoother than a MY2000. I have raced some 02's and stock to stock beat them almost always. It could be that the cars I am racing aren't broken in yet and or bad drivers. All I know is my S really hauls a$$ for being stock...
Interesting feedback. The 02 owners say they don't have a limiter so I'll try it out within the next week or two on a safe, empty road and re-post. Basically, I'll take it back to the open road I was first on to repeat the test. I'm almost sure it was the fact that I was in too low an rpm range in 6th. I decided not to drop down to 5th as the twisties were coming up. Didn't put much thought into it at the time but gotta check it out.
Just maybe I did it on the 8 freeway on the way to Gorden wells to play in the sand. There are stretches of road out there where you can see for almost 5-6 miles at a time, the road is clear on both sides and there are no trees. The car is stable but I am used to driving cars at this speed, I would not recommend it if you don't fell comfortable in any way.
Really I do this sort of stuff all the time, If i crash and get hurt or killed then so be it, I do what I love. Personally I don't have much to loss, or anybody who would be devistated if I don't make it home, if I had a family myself it would be different but right now especially I have been puching the envelope alot. Now if I hurt someone else then I would be devistated, that why I am overly carefull by myself I could really care less what happens.

That's a pretty dark way to view things but at least you don't endanger others which is respectable.
I just ran across this site a few days ago and it seems these guys are living on that edge.

We expect our people to intimately know what they're doing behind the wheel, to have their houses in order, and to solely internalize the consequences of their life-style. We do what we can to ferret out those likely to spoil our fun. This isn't a Fight Club. We want to nothing to do with those who still have something to prove. If you have unfinished business in life, then go back and finish it. Get it out of your system, get your head straight, then come back and we'll roll out the red carpet for you. "

Wow! You guys are just brave adventurous people! Thinking wide open road, and nobody is going to get hurt. Life is still too precious to end on the street; even when you think the car was perfect the time you drove out the door, things can still go wrong! brakes may fail, parts may get loose due to all that (Rev) vibration. But for some of you wanted to have that rush, be my guest, but please be careful and be alert! Anything could happend, there could be trash or oil on the pavement.
I also love to take my car at high speed, but mostly on the track. although, occasionally I speed a little, but never over 120 mph on the open road! On the track event before last, I found a broken screw stuck in my rear tire; pierced into the tire 1/2 inch in depth! Just be careful out there! Even though there no other cars around! I totaled my first Spa Yellow by myself in the rainback in Feb. 2001; it's not a good feeling, plus my back still hurts some times in the morning!
Have fun!
