why do people constantly say they've done blah blah mph "STOCK"??? ....

i hope you guys realize it doesn't matter how modified this car is it'll still only do the same top speed which is around 172mph (limited by gears) 157mph or so (limited by drag)...

the only thing a modded car will give you is the ability to reach those speeds quicker...
You're stating this as if we don't know this? ?? This information is nothing new...

Just becuase they post they hit 162mph or whatever, doesn't mean they don't know this information... ?? so what if people still post what speed they hit?

The top speed of the car (gear limited) is about 174mph indicated speed.

The top speed indicated of the car (drag limited) is not really known. Even the slightest uphill or downhill grade can change the top speed that you will attain, or even the slightest headwind or tailwind can do the same. So to arbitrarily say 157mph is not necessarily correct. Hence the reason you see people continue to post speeds they've gone. I've done 160+ mph myself. The guy on the autobahn hit 166. several others went over 160mph. So why must we stop posting about it just because you post you believe the speed is 157mph drag limited? That's what I don't understand.

^ you are completely miss understanding my posts... i guess you just chose to read certain things in my posts and not read all of it.. i never said 157mph was it...

here so you can reread it...

my first post.. .
"i've done 151mph with the top down... but i was going slightly downhill... i probably could of gone faster but i stopped.....

as far as i know it's drag limited to around 157mph or so... and as far as gears go... it's at 172mph or so.... depending on wind, temp, downhill/uphill, yada yada... "

read the second paragraph... 157mph OR SO.... then last sentence DEPENDING ON WIND,TEMP, DOWNHILL/UPHILL, yada yada....

my second post...
"why do people constantly say they've done blah blah mph "STOCK"??? ....

i hope you guys realize it doesn't matter how modified this car is it'll still only do the same top speed which is around 172mph (limited by gears) 157mph or so (limited by drag)...

the only thing a modded car will give you is the ability to reach those speeds quicker... "

my main reason for this post is the fact that people say they have done blah blah mph STOCK.... why need to mention STOCK.. who cares it does nothing for top speed...as you can see from my main post stressed STOCK... and then what is stated afterwards is the facts.... and once again i said... "157mph or so"

i don't know what your problem with me is.. but it's really getting annoying, it seems like every post i make you seem to think it's irrelevant or not needed blah blah blah....it's not like i'm giving out wrong information.. i'm actually giving out correct information which is something a lot of people on this site canNOT say for themselves...

oh and on top of that.. you quoting me... and stating what you said has absolutly nothing to do with the post you quoted....

the post you quoted
"well there's obviously some people that don't know this information... and i've mentioned the speeds in my earlier post and yet people still say i did blah blah mph stock..... "

and your reply was all about speed this speed that doing blah blah blah mph yada yada.... which has absolutly nothing to do with this post that you quoted.....

and your statement "Just becuase they post they hit 162mph or whatever, doesn't mean they don't know this information.. "

well i'm sorry to inform you but there are plenty of people on this site that do NOT know.....

but whatever.. you seem to have issues with me for some odd reason... so i don't care... i guess you being a mod has gotten to your head thinking you're better then everyone else on this site....

I think it might be best to be civil, rather than use personal attacks. I've done you the same courtesy, so would expect the same in return. If you have a personal issue with me, I'd suggest PM to discuss it.

As for your posting, I understand what you're saying. Just was unsure why you said it twice. (the part about hills, wind, etc) You clarified that you feel people don't know the info, so that's fair enough.

But then you said 'why do people say I've done xxx mph stock'. You also said mods won't increase your top speed, only get you there faster. You said you were giving out the correct information, which this information is not.

If modified, the car can attain a higher speed. If you get 10whp from intake/exhaust/headers/test pipe, you will be able to attain a higher top speed than a STOCK S2000 in the same conditions. The reason for this is because you have increased the force you are using to move the car forward. The car's top speed is reached when the force equals the resistance. Increase the force (adding 10hp) and you have now increased the maximum resistance as well, thus being able to attain a higher top speed. So if you mod your car and get a few extra horses, you have increased your top speed. Eventually however, you'd reach the top gear limited speed of 174mph as you already indicated.

Hence the reason say they did xxx mph STOCK.

Not trying to pick nits, but your post was misleading, and I simply tried to correct it. I also just didn't understand what was wrong with people continuing to post how fast they've gone? You feel you have the right to post the same information twice so people understand, but then get annoyed/upset when people feel they have the right to post what speed they have gone anyways. It's a two way street my friend.

i stated the speed twice because it was nessecary in my second post to clearify why saying stock is not neccessary.....

and adding power/mods to your car will not make it faster cuase it doesn't matter if you have 500rwhp or 200rwhp it's going to stop at 174mph OR SO regardless because of gears...like i've said it will only get you to that speed faster with mods.... (the only way this will change is if you have changed your gears)

oh by the way. i haven't complained about people posting how fast they've gone.. i personally don't really care how many times they post it...

ah i think we are on the same page here now.

When you said "no matter your mods you won't get any faster" I thought you were talking about the drag limited speed, not the gear limited speed.

all the mods in the world won't let you past that 174mph mark unless you raise your redline or get taller gears. we're saying the same thing, just both reading incorrectly.

cheers.
