Torque and city driving.
if you sold the rsx because it didn't have much torque then i think you'll be disappointed in the torque of this car too. it does have a little more but you're not going to be hitting the gas in 2nd gear and breaking the tires loose like in some torquey cars.
the best advice to give...take a test drive.

Torque is more of an issue when you're trying to accelerate quickly..
maybe you bought a slow color?
I drove around in a Kia Rio for 2 weeks waiting for my '04 S to get out of the body shop back in January. Let me tell you about lack of torque. However, I delt with it and got around town just fine. There are many people in the world that drive around in cars with much less torque than the S2000 and do just fine. If you really need 200+ ftlb of torque for liesurely drives around town, this is not the car for you. Getting back into my S after driving a Rio around was heaven.
This lack of torque myth is a load of crap. How many other 2.2L normally aspirated 4 cylinders in this world have more torque than the S2000? Not many. What makes people say this car has no torque down low is because it is so fast up high. There is such a dramatic change in the car when VTEC kicks in that people think the car should be that fast all the time, from 3k to redline, but it is impossible. I challenge anyone to build a 2.0-2.2L 4 cyl motor up to make the kind of streetable hp/torque that Honda has given us. The key word here is streetable.
The '04+ S2k's are significantly torquier from idle to redline than their 2.0L counterparts. They put down 20 more ftlb of torque than the new RSX type S at similar weights. That is quite significant. I find my '04 quick enough below VTEC for every day driving.

I currently drive a GTI 1.8 Turbo (good torque at the bottom).
Would the S2000 in traffic conditions drive me crazy? Does anyone here uses the car in "slow" commutes?

I came over from an LT-1 Trans Am and was definitely a bit concerned about the torque issue as the former car had gobs of it down low.
The only issue with commuting is the short clutch throw and the ability to bog if you don't let the clutch out in 2 stages - i.e. let clutch out till it grips, let the vehicle start moving, then let the clutch fully out.
Most of you won't have that problem when the clutch is new but it certainly becomes that way after it wears in a couple of years
The "no torque" thing is pure
. But like some others said, if you didn't enjoy the way the RSX drive, it's possible you won't enjoy the S2000. Just give one a test-drive and see for yourself. Personally, I find the S2000 perfectly suited for daily commuting.

If at this point you try punching it, the car doesn't go ANYWHERE until VTEC hits... For those 3-5 secs a lot of cars can fly past you

well its fine when i drive in the city but i do have the f22 with gearing and all.
just be smart about gear selection. if i know i might need to punch it i will keep it around 3krpm. that and anything higher is plenty of punch to beat most cars. usually you wont get into 5th gear at all.
