Thanks for the replies, boys and girls. I will test drive the thing as soon as I have the chance, to best judge. Otherwise, an STi will probably be a perfect alternative.

If your S takes 5 seconds to get to VTEC from a roll, something is SERIOUSLY wrong with it! Come on guys, it ain't that bad!
LoL I'm taking into consideration different road conditions, thats why i said 3 to 5 seconds. Let's say you're already off of the clutch and you realize you need to speed up a bit. Now if youre on a flat road its not gonna take that long, but lets say youre on a slight incline...at this point it will take an extra second or two...and sometimes that makes a big difference.

Now I'll say again, the power producing characteristics of the car don't bother me AT ALL...

Hi,
I'm considering purchasing a new S2000 and I've been reading in other forums how the torque of this motor makes city driving (traffic light to traffic light) a bit boring. I used to own an RSX and sold it for that reason.
I currently drive a GTI 1.8 Turbo (good torque at the bottom).
Would the S2000 in traffic conditions drive me crazy? Does anyone here uses the car in "slow" commutes?
TIA
if u are looking for instant Torque.

Honda isnt the right car for u.

look elsewere.

I find it OK for city driving...I mean if you are in the city stop light to stop light is there really a need for a bunch of torque just to get to the next light and stop and wait for it to turn green? I drive 35 miles each way to and from work, 2/3 southern california traffic 1/3 city and it's just as good as any other car I've owned with more torque (M3, SRT4, etc.)

IMO, The S2K is actually easier to drive in traffic because you can control speed smooth with just the throttle and little clutching/braking. I mean You can alternate between throttle-ON and throttle-OFF with out getting jerked around.

Other cars I have had were not this smooth.

sort of confused here.. torque=more sense of rush but it does not necessarily mean you're faster?

Honestly how much torque do you need to daily drive your car? If a geo metro can do it than why cant the S do it?

ya know, i was talking to another veteran S2k member and he says getting a AEM intake for F20C will make up for loss of torque feel.

Essentially... F20C w/ AEM INTAKE = F22C STOCK...

F20C + AEM intake = No effect. CAI or not, when your sitting in bumper to bumper traffic your still pulling in hot air.

I'll have to disagree with you my fellow metroplexian
I can notice the diff with the intake even in hot weather. Even in 100degree weather the difference is noticable. i'm less likely to bog when just easing off the clutch.
