Totalled my S
When you do buy another sports car, make sure it is NOT a 2006 S2000 because it has VSA, and VSA *SUCKS*! I can not IMAGINE why Honda put VSA on this car! VSA *SUCKS*!!! I know you have to be REALLY glad that your S2000 did not have VSA because VSA *SUCKS*!!! VSA would have interfered with your driving experience as you SMASHED YOUR ASS INTO THE CONCRETE because VSA *SUCKS*!!!
Sorry, this is not directed at the guy who had the wreck. I also admire him for admitting he just screwed up. Too many people today blame ANYTHING but be a *man* and admit fault. This is not directed at the driver, but is directed at all the hard headed people who rant on and on and on and on about how awful VSA is.

Both cars are definitely totalled!
When the cost of repairing a car reaches around 70% of its value, most insurance companies will total a car. That does not mean that it isn't repairable. My red car was purchased and repaired by a body shop owner who fixed it up and sold it with a salvage title. The estimate on repairs to my car totalled about $15,000, and it's value at the time was about $21,000. I received a check for the car's value and then the insurance company sold the car to the body shop. The owner of the shop later told me that it was a lot more work than he anticipated and he didn't make much money on the deal.

A good friend of dad's (also a body shop owner) does this also.. he said it's pretty much a crap-shoot. You'll make a great profit / end up with a great ride for yourself from one car, and you'll make very little on the next. All it takes is "ohh shit, that IS bent!" on a few parts and the dollars start adding up.
You can drive an S fast and proved that at Beaver Run. Don't let this get in the way of you owning another performance car. The Street is for slow/show the track is for go. Glad your ok. New 03 sold for $24,500 last weekend in your backyard. 04's priced in $27-28 range. E-mail HT guy. Still waiting for feedback on DBW & VSC on 06 S2K. It could be better than the wire that directly connects gas pedal to the throttle on all prior models. At least that is what Lotus is telling its customers about their 06 line vs 05 Elise.
DBW= Drive by Wire
VSC = Vehicle Stability Control
