In 1975 we towed a 1500 pound race car and trailer with a 1969 (or so) Volvo 145 wagon that was filled with race equipment. The Volvo had an 1800cc engine fed by dual SU carburettors producing about 95 hp. It was quite slow up hill!
there's no hills in Ohio just kidding, went to Kent State.

btw, that's nuts!

Yes, but after they finally invented dirt, that sort of thing became frowned upon.

(Something to remember is that today's "full-size" trucks are generally a LOT more powerful, a LOT more massive, and a LOT better braked than the trucks 30 years ago, but people were still trailering loads back then and they didn't all crash.)

And a 1500lbs race car on a 700lbs trailer is a LOT lighter than a 2750lbs S2000 on a 2000lbs trailer.

Having an Explorer myself all i can say is the rear of the Explorer was overloaded and you never put the heaviest part of a load on the rear of the trailer unless you want tail whip... from the picture before they left for the trip it looks like an accident waiting to happen...

Explorers get bad rap. They are more than capable on hauling trailers.

We were not ripping on Explorers. We were discussing safe means of towing.

Ripping on explorers was just an added side benefit.

Most people who two are lucky bastages just spinning the roulette wheel. I have towed with dozens of vehicle over many thousands of miles and I think that a stock 150/1500 towing anything is a disaster waiting to happen.
