Default Trade in MY 00 for new 02?

I have come up with a semi-possible plan to sell or trade in my 00 Silverstone with 21000 miles on it and get a new car.
The car had almost 800 miles on it when purchased from the dealer in November of 2000.
I can't stand the thought of having a lot of miles on my car. Not to mention the dealer ragging it out before that.

I am 18 with two decent jobs, I have enough scholarships to not have to pay a dime for college.
My question is, what can I expect from a dealer trade in, or private selling. And how hard would it be to get the car for sticker price from a pretty low volume but highly reputable dealer.

Another thing is the color. It would probably have to be blue.

THis is just a thought, but if it can be done, then it just might happen.

I guess the dealer just let people test drive the shit out of it.
At the time i was thinking
Wow I'm getting an S2000. And I rationalized the mileage to the effect of the car already being broken in.
Now I realize theat the dealer doesn't care how people drive the car and probably let the engine get destroyed.

Is there any way I could repare any damaged that is specific to this type of abuse.

I bought mine with 5 miles on it. Anyway, to answer your question, it'll be pretty easy to get one at MSRP if you shop around, but I've never seen a blue at MSRP. A Suzuka Blue S2000 normally pulls a premium over the other colors(in my experience). To answer your other question, I think privately selling it would get you better results. Expect $24-27K. The lower end of that is what you'll get from the dealer.

Did you ever pull a Carfax on it? This will tell you the history of title transfer with mileage on each stop. I would expect to get offered about 24-25k from the average dealer in a metro location trying to steal it and about 27k if you get a good buyer. You may do better enjoying it if it runs strong. Just my 2 cents.

thanks Morpheus.
How can I make sure it runs strong for a long time?
What kind of place should I take it to for a tune up and what exactly might that get me.
Is there a place that can ispect it for any potential damage?

I don't think there are enough changes in the MY02 to warrant a trade-in. You'll just lose so many $ on depreciation.

If you still want to trade-in, you should wait for the MY03 introduction in a couple of months...
