Most of them don't know what they are talking about.

This is what my salesperson has said:
Question: When are you guys getting the hardtop in?
His response: There will not be a hardtop
My response: I've seen it on the internet
His response: Most of that stuff is unreliable

Not only that, but he didn't know about the glass window, different colors, and alot of other things that was rumored and confirmed on this board.

So the point is, trust this board more than the Honda salesperson. You will find all the info
you need. The salesperson is just there to sell you a car.

It's funny, after everything was confirmed by Honda, that salesperson even said, "Those boards usually knows what's going on."

I never expect much from car salesmen, after all, they're salesmen, like all the rest. However, I was originally looking at both the S2000 (my impractical but very fun choice) and the new Acura RSX-Type S (slightly more what I'm used to as a Civic owner for years). The guys at the Acura dealership had the correct answer for every question - about the Integra, the RSX, the NSX, and even the S2000 (the Acura salesman loves the new S). The Honda guy ... well, ... he was a Honda guy.

All excuses aside...I agree with s2kdude. If you are going to sell cars (or anything else for that matter) you should know a little about them. We are enthusiasts and should not expect very many poeple to know nearly as much as we do about these cars. But they should at least know how many gears the thing has...

Most salespeople in car dealerships know very little about the cars that they sell. Only the good salespeople research the cars and know about them, to give them the advantage over the other people.

There are some people on the board that own the car and also sell it. Colin and Ben are a few examples.

i think most of the lower brand cars (honda/toyota/mazda etc etc) don't know shit about cars....what they do know is commission so they'll yes you to death.

once you start moving up the companies a little more picky regarding who they hire

but once i went with my friend when he went to go buy his Lexus IS300. i overheard another salesman speaking with an older woman about the IS300. she asked is this a sportscar? and the salesman responded by saying yes. then she (who is also clueless) asked why anyone would want to shift gears in a car after the salesman commented about the steptronic (or whatever the hell they call it) transmission.

it's scary how clueless people really are about cars.
