I'm closing in on 120xxx miles and since owning my AP1 I've never babied it.
Just regularly check and service it and these cars will last very long. Unless you misshift or make any other mistakes!
You will enjoy every minute and when something does break, just get it fixed. It's worth it.

Used to be daily until it became the third vehicle.

What do you mean by "hard"? There's driving it like it's meant to be driven and then there's abusing it. The latter will, obviously, lead to problems.

Nope. Nothing broken aside from the slave cylinder and the top. Though how I drive had nothing to do with the latter. Replaced the clutch but that's really a wear item.

A few posts in one thread != most. There are many, many more S's on the road than people posting in this thread. Redlining isn't a problem. The limiter will kick in even if you exceed it. Mechanical over-rev is what you really need to watch out for as the rev limiter won't help there.

You need to drive it however you're comfortable driving it and according to your preferences. I bought my S to enjoy it, not to worry over it. YMMV. Do what works for you.

I drive normal most of the time but I ALWAYS hit vtec when I am first getting on the freeway. I had to rebuild my engine once last summer because of money shift(s) by the previous owner. Since I have had it though besides previous owner damage - there has been nothing wrong with it. I LOVE IT!

thanks for the responses guys..the answers in here have been great...that plus just reading the forum more and seeing how people drive them has made me a bit more comfortable to drive it like i want...by driving hard i dont mean to abuse the thing by constant redline every where I go...dumping the clutch at 5k on takeoff etc....i mean revving it into vtec every once in a while, taking turns like the car was meant to etc....again thanks for all the answers

one of the best forums ive been on as of yet!

I am scared to drive it in a spirited manner in fear of messing up the shifts, losing control of the car, etc. I also have a lip on my car and I freak out when I see a speed bump or pot hole - I literally drive over speed bumps like a 90 year old would climb stairs.
I just bought mine 5 days ago!... i hear ya....i go on youtube and see thses guys just tearing up the road with them...so that makes me 91

Live, before you die. Because I can tell you, on your death bed it won't be the miles or dollars in your account you'll be remembering.... but instead all the memories.
Perfectly said.

Driving hard and well is not abusive. Dropping the clutch, slamming shifts is not driving hard it's incompetence.

Learn the car before you drive it hard.
