Default Two question on the Type R's

I'm pretty sure this has been dicussed before, but I'm just curious.

One how come there is no Type R for the S2000?

Two why only bring the Intergra for a couple years and stop it and none on the
other Type R's?

What is ur thoughts?

s2000 is already one of the top cars for honda... It doesn't need a type r because it is engineered as a sports car... Not an entry sedan like the Integra...

Then how does that explain the NSX Type-R?

I agree with vAnt, however if they were to make an "ultra hardcore edition" Type-R version (weight reduction, slight increase in power, suspension tweaks etc.) I'd imagine this would land it squarely in Corvette territory as far as price goes. Which like it or not, a N/A ~2 liter 4 cylinder won't be able to handle in the majority of situations. I'd imagine there would be a few buyers, but obviously it wouldn't make the best marketing decision for much the same reason there is no RSX-R over here. The RSX-R would land pricewise in direct competition with the 350Z and S2000, they can put as many red "R" stickers on the car as they want....it's still going to get rings ran around it by either car.

Further, the slice of the overall market our beloved little "mainstream" edition holds is tiny as it is. Relatively few people in the general consumer market are willing to part with ~$33,000 for a 2-seat, RWD, convertible with little practicality and virtually no storage space what so ever. It's already "too hardcore" for most people the way it is, a Type-R would be more so.

I agree that the S2000 is already a great car. I don't agree with you about needing a Type-R. Even for the S2000 we don't need it. We want it.

Base NSX (Targa top, 6MT) in Japan ranges from 10,769,850 Yen to 11,504,850 Yen.

NSX Type R ranges from 12,554,850 to 13,552,350 Yen.

Wow, that's like a $16,000 to $18,000 increase... Nearly a 15% premium. Based on that, an S2000 Type R would be in the $38k to $39k range.

In fact, now that I think about it...Anyone wanting an S2000-R, they already have that, it's called a Lotus Elise.

YBS1 and Elistan, not sure I agree with your pricing premise. Look at what Mitsu did with the Evo: They made a lighter version and sold it for less. IMO for the S2000 to really come into it's own all it needs is a couple 100 lbs less.

Lots of those lbs would save Honda $, for example: electric powered roof and windows, air conditionning, spare tire, sound proofing. For the money saved Honda could give us lighter wheels, brakes, seats, etc and come out close to even IMHO. Problem probably is the market more than the $. The S is already considered extreme by many and it's market share is pretty low.
