PdC, I agree with you in theory...the price in parts probably could be close to a wash. However, they are going to want a premium regardless. Couple of reasons why: 1) Recover costs of R&D on any engine/suspension tweaks 2)Manufacturing retooling, though I'd imagine it would be slight 3)More options always equals greater cost (that includes to the non Type-R model) because there are more variations to account for. This is the very reason cars are offered with "option packages" instead of letting you tick off only the exact things you want. Also, I'd imagine this is the very same reason all S2000's, RSX-S's, and some other models all come off the assembly line identical (except color) and then allow "dealer installed accessories". It's not really cheaper for us, but it's cheaper for them. So even if the true cost was similar, I guarantee the retail won't be and in addition you can bet there would be a lot of "fair market value" addendum stickers added to these cars further increasing cost. Hell, there are still Honda dealers trying to pull the "these thing are rare man, we get sticker for about every one of them and they still fly out of the showroom" ploy on the current model.

While discussing, why the there aren't any S2-R's being built, here comes the problem number 2

Question #2. Why aren't there any Type-R's here in the U.S.? Becuase even if
an S2-Rs are built, It wouln't make it here.

If the RSX-R's come to the U.S. Imagine how many ppl who already own the Type-S will be sell or trade for the R. I believe a good amount. Just like I believe how many S2 owners here will do the same for an S2-R I know I would.
Agreed, I'm the type of person who would opt for the Type-R as well. However, the price would be a major issue, like I said in my first post...you may very well be into Corvette territory then, and if it was I couldn't give it the nod over a Vette for similar prices unless it performed beyond my current expectations of what a S2000-R would do. But that's just me, I'm sure some others may feel differently.

But we could buy type r cams , pistons etc.. for our cars. Just like RSX-S owners do with the JDM Type R.

NSX Type R ranges from 12,554,850 to 13,552,350 Yen.

Wow, that's like a $16,000 to $18,000 increase... Nearly a 15% premium. Based on that, an S2000 Type R would be in the $38k to $39k range.
How much does the Elise cost, again? Would this hypothetical S2000 Type-R be competitive with it?

$40,000-$45,000 depending upon options I believe.

Hypothetically? Who knows, I think a fair guess on a hypothetical S2000-R would be what? 2550lbs. - 265hp - and come in at roughly $37,000??? Anyone agree, disagree??? Versus a 1975lbs. - 190hp - $40-45K car. I'd imagine performance would be very close. With the Lotus the extra loot would get you a truly rare/exotic steed, a long racing pedigree, and the ability to say "I own a Lotus" I guess. With the S2K-R you save some money, and probably have a more reliable little racer. *Shrug*

S2K@PR,

To convert a non Type-R to a Type_R will probaly cost you more than to just buy a Type-R. Wow!! That's three Type-Rs in a sentence...Man I just wish they bring the R's here. To me it's more then just the hp. It's how it's all put together.
