Hypothetically Honda did release a S2000 Type R..do you think they will opt for the 2.0 l engine or the 2.2 Torquier engine?..
HaHa ... does this go back to whether the 04 or pre 04's are better because of the engine?

We have the Civic R in Germany of course, but Honda in general has a different image here, more of an "upscale import." Thus no need for Acura. Parts and service for Hondas are much more expensive than for VWs so it takes a luxury customer to switch from a Golf to a Civic. Adding the CTR to the lineup made sense.

S2000 sales have gone down ever since the car came out though. 1500 cars were sold the first year, but in 2004 there were only 500 new registrations so far. My local $tealer had an S2k with 18" bling and lowering springs selling for under sticker that sat around for a long time.

No one seems to have brought up the fact that Honda might not have felt comfortable warrantying a car with more power that they knew would get abused harder than a stock S2000. If they don't think it's feasible to make a profit, it probably won't happen.

If that was the case then there wouldn't be any Type R's.

I have a lot of confidence that Honda could more produce more ponies on the F20c or the F22c and still be reliable. Any abuse with the engine will void your warranty anyways...

I dont think Honda cares about making big horsepower cars. Thats y they invented VTEC, to give people power when they need it, but stay good on gas mileage and emmissions and reliable. Reliability is what Honda sells and when you put so much horsepower into a car stuff is bound to break or need maintenance eventually or more often than if the power was bogged down. They save all the horsepower for F-1 racing. IMO i dont think Honda will ever do it, they main selling car is the Accord anyway lol. Most people buy hondas because their are reliable.
