Used S2K or new S2K?
There is an 2000 model S2K Silver with Red interior with 28kkm. Owner is now asking $21750. (He's already dropped down from his original asking $24470.) What should I offer? Thanks for any feedback...
I purchased mine used with 7,500 miles last Sept. This was when the car was in high demand and dealer markup was completely insane. I thought I got a good deal purching it for a couple thousand below MSRP (with chin and trunk spoilers, strakes, CD)
The climate has changed and deals can be had on new cars.
If you can justify/afford a new one, I'd go for it.
If you want the used one, get all his maint. records and let this group know what has been done to it. We can help you determine if it's a good car.
Carfax.com is good too

Do you guys see his location?
Abu Dahbi! Who knows what they go for there.
I live in South Florida, if I could buy one for $21k I could sell it here for $25-$28k depending on condition. Here demand is still good. You may get one for MSRP, but even $28k is $5k under sticker.

Most folks don't have the problems. Those who do (did) have them fixed with varying amounts of success.
After looking at the maintenance history, the best thing you can do is read all the TSB's thoroughly and test the car to see if it exhibits any of the symptoms listed in them. Hopefully the seller will afford you the opportunity to test.
Don't get too freaked over them. The S2000 is a solid little car.

knock on wood-))
Less than 22,000 for a MY00 I think is a good deal if the car has been driven, not ragged out-[which means} 9000 RPM can make some people go crazy
Get the car check out by a good mechanic that knows engines, and give him a quote
