V2 vs comptech intake
I am in the market for a aftermarket intake, so i went to a local shop here and i got a price of $320 for the V2 and $365 for the comptech intake. Are these prices any good? I was thinking they are quite high after i saw some online prices. Also he told me to go with the v2 because the comptech is just a short ram intake and he said your basically buying the name since it doesnt give much more power compared to the v2. I was wondering if any of these opinions he had are true?
v2 goes lower into the car nad basically in the middle/ right fender/right air duct if you know what i mean.. and the comptech goes and stays inside the engine...
v2 is a bit high just go to ebay.
comptech is not i believe...
but the main concern of v2 is hydrolocking... that's about it

The V2 is supposedly the best intake system for a mildy modded NA S2000 however the term "best" is relative. I don't believe there's an immense difference in performance amongst the two. The bigger difference IMHO is in the work involving the actual installation.
The V2 is a more involved setup requiring cutting and trimming of some of the plastic pieces and introduces difficulty/time for the install. The Comptech is as someone mentioned an underhood unit which doesn't require cutting, but I've seen some quality issues with some Comptech units where the groove on the carbon/plastic box doesn't align with the hood prop.
If hydrolock is a serious concern, stay with the Comptech unit. For AEM users, I strongly suggest pluging the passenger side drain hole with something that won't rot away (in other words, seal it off good). That'll prevent water from rain or car washes that will drop onto the filter and start filling up the intake tube.

I'm no mechanical engineer so I can't explain the technical parts, but I'd take a guess that since Comptech decided on using materials that are resistant to heat (just like the OEM intake tube), so they made a wise choice. Being that it draws air from under the hood rather than where the AEM does, it may seem to be less efficient however Comptech took measures into making sure the surrounding filter area is isolated well and if I'm not mistaken, is one of the cooler spots under the hood to draw air.
I personally use the AEM V2 and cut a hole in my passenger side faux duct and covered it with a Coastal Metals grill kit. I have no idea whether this is an improvement or not, but it makes me feel better having done the job.

ok ok another question? sorry if i'm thread jacking but i figured u'll need this information too!!
if u had a vented hood will that make it easier to draw cooler air since all the air is ventilating out? prolly go hand in hand with a sri like the comptech
