Default VAFC Keeping the Tune

I have done some searching and I never really found a straight answer...

If you get your car tuned w/ a VAFC, do you need to reset your ECU from time to time to keep the tune functional?

WOT tuning will never reset itself. Partial throttle tuning will reset itself and you'd have to keep resetting. The thing is, why would you need partial throttle tuning anyway.

If you tune for WIDE OPEN THROTTLE. Then the tune will not reset itself. If you tune for Partial throttle, it will reset. What do you need the extra couple HP for when your not going WOT?
