Does the V-1 have to be hardwired to a power box or does it have a 12 volt jack? I would like to be able to easily switch it between my cars.

It comes with a 12V cigarette adaptor as well. The hardwiring however is very easy to do, completely reversible and it much better integrated than using the adaptor... especially with the odd location in the S2k.

Checkout this montha Automobile mag for a good radar review also think about the Passport 8500 It is awesome, and kills the Valentine in Ka which is what I encounter 95% of the time, also has auto mute, brightness dim or dark mode, and reports up to 8 bogeys at a time

Speedzones has a great review of the Passport 8500 which also gives sensitivity comparisons of the Passport 8500 with the V1 and the Bel 980.

In that review the Passport 8500 alerts to Ka at 1.9 miles and the V1 at 1.8 miles. The V1 beats the Passport 8500 by 0.2 miles in X and by 0.1 miles in K. I'd say it is pretty much a draw--unless you also run comparisons of radar from behind.

Anyway, here's a link to the Speedzones site. I think it is a great on-line resource.

And yes, you can easily move the V1 from vehicle to vehicle and it stows nicely in the bottom of the "locked" compartment between and behind the seats.

I'd like to thank loki for his picture showing the wiring... it made my life a lot easier (I have a passport, but the hardwire locations are the same).

My passport is nicely integrated now... the A-pillar comes undone nicely and the wiring is virtually hidden...

about the only thing I find odd is that the key in the ON position makes the passport turn on, but after starting the engine, the passport turns off and on again...

so nice to FINALLY have something to alert me to the fuzz... this car is pretty easy to speed in

No comparison....Go V1!
Or buy two passports, one pointing forward and one pointing toward the back. This was pointed out to me during a recent traffic stop by the Utah Highway Patrol.
