Default Which version of S2000?

Hi. I am a Civic Type-R owner for 2 years now.

I live in the UK and am considering changing to an S2000 as soon as I can.

From what I have read we are now on the 3rd revision of the S2000.

What are the main differences between the 3 and has the car been improved by them? Which is best? If these queries have been answered elsewhere on this site I apologise. Please point me in the right direction. Thanks.

from what I understand, the S2000 (atleast in the US) has gone through numerous revisions from the start, the biggest ones being in 2002.. when it went through a slight suspension change and the rear window went from plastic to glass..

then in 2004, the suspension was again redesigned for easier handling, larger rims/tires and the biggest change was going from 2.0 liters to 2.2 liters, lowering the redline from 8900 to 8000 and increasing the torque, while keeping the same 240 hp..

In 2000 the S was exactly how the makers wanted the car to be. It was as track ready as possible. Since then they've slowly made changes to make the typical US driver happy. Although I must admit, I like the glass window & the 17's.

Majicman,
Although I'm not certain, I'm pretty sure the 2.2L powerplant is only available in the states.

I had JDM EP3R for 6 months. This car was sold since I didn't drive it a lot. Now I own an ap2 as my daily drive.

Comparing these 2 cars, the S is just awsome! It catches most eyes on the street and there is no way the EP3 can compare to, especially when top's down. Turning the wheel is quite different between these 2 cars, you'll feel the difference once you are holding the steering wheel, I guess it was because S has EPS and EP3 doesn't.

Magicman666, go ahead and pick the S as soon as you can. You won't regrat what you pay for like many people did in here. Personally I like the look of ap2 better

Yeah I didn't know there was a suspension change in 2002.
But 2002 also received a leather center console and chrome rings around the taillights.
2004 also has different tail and headlights. I believe other people pointed out the rest... Good luck!
My favorite is the 2002-2003. Even though I love the new lights and wheels, I am a sucker for 9000 rpm. Too bad I have a 2001 with plastic!! CRAP!

Hey Magicman,

Aren't you on the Uk CTR forum? I think I remember you from when I had my Type R - well since we both had the Swindon version of the car and are going to the Euro spec S (9k redline with 2.0 engine) I can tell you that you will love it.

Though the S is a little bit tough to tame, it will have you grinning even more than the CTR did! The driving feel is completely different as you would imagine going from a front to rear whell drive and you find yourself being a little more careful in the beginning due to the different feel and 'signs' the car gives you, but it makes it that much more fun IMO!

Go for it, you will not regret it

Actually the OEM one is vinyl. You have to get the aftermarket version from Rick's if you want real leather. I love mine!!!
