Very close call today...
Driving home from work in my S2000, I passed a small yellow pickup that was going a tad too slow for my taste.
I got caught by the next red light, and I stopped and the pickup settled in behind me.
Suddenly, a loud screech came from right behind me,
and a car slammed into the pickup, enough to see the ass-end of the thing lift up in the air.
And here I am, counting my lucky stars. My car still has the temporary registration in the window, since it's only 4 weeks old, still without a single scratch.

aiee, hows this for close: a few years ago before i got my license, my brother was driving my mom's old car right after she'd gotten her S and i was in the passenger seat(mustv'e been late 2000)...on the freeway we were in the # 2 lane(with #1 being the fast lane), and suddenly a car slammed on its brakes in the #3 lane ahead of us. the car that was to the right and just ahead of us in the #3 lane swerved left into the #2 lane to avoid the braking car, but in doing so it sheared the front license plate cleanly from the front bumper of my mom's car.
at 70 mph. I'll never forget that one....

Glad to hear your S is still ok but remember that it's replacable and insured...you're not. people always come first (and I hope the others were ok, too)

That's pretty close. My wife and I had a close one this morning on our way to work. Driving down a road (high traffic road, too) near my house, all of a sudden what looked (at first glance) like a horse dashed out into traffic, back out of it, then back through it again. It was a very large female moose! This is in suburban St. John's (capital city), though not very heavily populated in this particular area. I don't know how it didn't get hit - it didn't even slow down going into traffic. Crazy!
Dang those are all close. 2 friends, just after a heavy snow fall, decide to go out and do some P-brake turns, donouts, you know all the fun winter parking lot stuff. After like 10minutes of sliding around, they find eachother drifting directly twoards eachothers car. They slide to a stop, and front bumbers where so close that they could not even fit a finger between them!!
