Um no........Stability assist uses some of the same components that traction control systems use but it goes beyond helping the vehicle minimize tire slip to simply gain momentum. VSA or stability assist uses braking and throttle when the vehicle is in motion to control pitch and yaw with the intention of keeping all that momentum you generated from traction control headed in the direction you intended. The electronics will react faster than a human could ever hope to correct a skid by clamping down on one or more corners or modulating the throttle. Also when you step on the brake pedal, you don't have the option of clamping a single brake. You push the pedal and all four corners clamp. The VSA can clamp a single or multiple calipers as needed to correct the attitude of the car.

In the wet or on ice or in changing surface conditions, VSA is far better and safer than trying to catch a spin and compensate yourself. On the other hand, if you want to get the tail out on a track with a predictable surface, it can be a pain in the butt. That's why Honda designed the thing with an off switch. Personally, I keep it on all the time unless I specifically want to steer with the rear tires and throttle.
