Default need new windshield, have a question

Well, I'm 6 months into owning my S2000 and I've had someone mess the keyhole up with a screwdriver and now my windshiled was busted while I was watching the horrid Cubs game last saturday.

Insurance is covering the windshield 100%

1.) Is an aftermarket windshield fine to use, or should I insist on OEM? Why or why not?

does anyone know if the original OEM windshield a green tint, or a blue/green tint? My agent showed these options on the computer and one was $262, and the blue/green was $365.

I hope this crap doesn't keep happening, or i'm starting to see why same coverage on this car is running me 30% more then even the sky high GSR rates.

As for the brand of windsheild.... does it really matter? There is NO tint on the S2000 windshield... if there were you wouldn't be able to see out lol.

IMHO, brand matters.
A buddy of mine had his wind shield replaced on an '06 Tib, and had issues after only 1 month.
Fitment wasn't great(can you believe that?), cracked all the way thru when there was no rock chips at all.
It might have been that particular one, but after seeing what happened to my friend, I'm sticking w/ OEM no matter what.

The glass is indeed tinted from the factory... like virtually all new windshields are I believe.

I just don't understand why they had a green, or blue/green option for replacement.

PS... the polycarbonate is crazy sweet, but I'll pass on the $2500 price difference

PPG is always the best, hands down.
Brand does matter, stay AWAY from the Japanese brands like KYG and such.

It looks like the oem unit is tinted "green" according to Honda.

The manufacturer is asahi?

Any other brands I should avoid? I'm going to take a look at the glass before they install anything.

thanks again for the replies!

Case closed. I told them today I want OEM for the windshield and the gasket. 3-5 day longer wait, but no biggie. Thanks again for the replies.
