Sometimes I whish it had even hotter cams

I was in a meeting the other day and people were talking about WOT

So I thought, this is finally getting interesting

Eventually I learned they meant 'Waste Of Time'

Well, the meeting was for sure!

They obviously never drove an S2000 WOT

hmm... That chart is interesting! I played around with the formulas and ratios. It looks like If I swapped an AP2 tranny into my AP1, I could theoretically gain an extra 14 MPH top speed......veeeeery interesting!
I think there's some odd cypherin' you done did do there.

Let's see what we've got here ......................
The stock AP1 is geared to go about 165 mph, however, it can't go that fast due to drag. In reality, you might be able to go about 150 mph.
The stock AP2 is geared to go about 151 mph. Coincidentally, this is about as fast as it can go in reality, again, due to drag.
So, as it stands, both cars can go about the same real world speed (given a level, straight road, no wind).

If you put an AP2 tranny into an AP1, that would be the same as putting an AP1 engine into an AP2. You simply add about 1000 rpm to the top end. This would make the car go about 170 mph (geared). You would "theoretically" gain another 5 mph. But again, the car is drag limited and can still only go about 150 mph.
The only advantage to the AP2 tranny is that due to its secondary reduction gear ratio, gears 1 to 4 will give the car more grunt in a drag, while having the added advantage of an extra 1000 rpm. Once you get to 5th and 6th, because they were changed (ratio wise) to get back the highway cruising rpm that was lost from the reduction gear ratio, these 2 gears would behave more or less like the stock AP1 car.

hey Breaker,
i get where youre comming from and the mario bros star analogy is intelligent. just learn to control your revs very well and only let the car do what you want. i've felt this before in my AP2 since the vtec changeover isn't so noticeable, its pretty "wasted" if you slowly rev up into vtec as opposed to WOT. happy driving

Yeah, I know it wouldn't work, but it was cool to see top speed 184 MPH pop in the box when I plugged in an AP2 with AP1 axle ratio and RPMs.

Just toolin' around. I am gonna swap gears but seriously want an AP2 trans. to swap before I swap the ring and pinion.

"teasing", vtec...I don't think I've ever read or heard a conversation like this ever! You just gave a whole new meaning to VTEC. And all this time I thought it was just "Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control"
Seriously-its ok to love your S2000[car]...just don't l--o--v--e your S2000.

Don't know if you've seen my posts on this subject, but I think the AP2 tranny in an AP1 with 4.44s or even 4.57s is probably the best non-F.I. mod you can do to this car. You get the low end grunt without sacrificing the highway cruising.
