That's strange you're having trouble from painting your headlight housings. Since 2002 in Japan the headlight housings have been chrome so I don't think that the paint should make that big of a difference. Does anybody on this site have the JDM chrome housings and can comment whether they have the reflection problem?

what did you guys use to paint your headlights? .. my friend just recently painted his 00civic SI headlights to look like JDM and he used engine paint.. and the only problem he has is it fogging up.. i dont think he let it dry too well before attaching them together

I heard that you painted the diffuser area flat black.

Okay, here are pics of the headlight beam pattern. I'm now guessing that it is due to headlight misalignment, as some of you have suggested.

The beam pattern doesn't look too bad in these pics, but as the pattern gets farther away from the car, the misalignment separation increases, and it looks much worse, especially when the pattern hits uneven surfaces.

Can anyone say with 100% certainty that this is due to headlight misalignment?

I'll look up beam alignment in the service manual to see what's involved.
