I checked the service manual, and horizontal alignment of the headlight beams appears pretty simple. For me, the hard part will be finding an appropriate place to do it.

It looks like the pattern might need vertical adjustment as well, but I don't think it's possible. There is no mention of vertical alignment in the manual.

Doesn't it look like the headlights need to be pointed inward until the pattern matches? It looks like there are two sets of headlight patterns. That's why I originally agreed with the reflection assumption.

I think there should be one notch, with the driver's side a little lower than the passenger side. Right???

I'll post pics again after the vertical alignment is done.

From the look of the paint in your pictures, I don't think it's nearly reflective enough to produce a reflection that's just as bright as the main pattern. My money would be on alignment.

I don't have that issue with my headlights. then, my color is red so light will reflect less.

by looking at the picture, you definately it's a misalignment issue. driver side should be little lower than passenger side.

cheers,

The beams should come together in the center and appear as "one." Yours are misaligned.

A horizontal alignment would be adjusting and from this plane --- ---

A vertical alignment would be adjusting (umm...side-to-side ) from this plane <- | - | ->

Make sense? Pete's following the vertical adjustment procedures will prove most beneficial .

I found a pic in the website library of a headlight beam pattern, which I am assuming is a correctly adjusted one.

I posted it above, next to a pic of my beam pattern. I didn't measure the distance when I took my pic, but it looks similar to the library pic, and it seems like misalignment is most likely the problem.

I haven't found any info on the vertical alignment issue. Any ideas?

I am planning on adjusting the beams according to the factory instructions in the manual.

FSures has kindly offered a location to do the work, if needed, so now I'm looking for someone close to my weight (160 lbs.) to sit in the driver's seat while I adjust the beams. [I know I could sit in the seat, but I would like to do the adjusting work myself.]

If there is anyone around 160 lbs., in the Los Angeles area, that wants to check or adjust your S2000 headlights, let me know ASAP.

Thanks, everyone for your input!!!

I'll post more pics after the adjustment.
