(I can't wait for all of the "hey big guy, I am 3X years old and drive a MY05 silverstone and I wave all the time to other S's!") I know there are exceptions, this is just over a larger sample.
I am 39 years old, and most of the time look like the corporate type (I am a lawyer), and I drive a Silverstone AP2!

I give the friendly wave, or more often a headlight flash, to all S2000s I see. I especially like it when younger folks get excited to see the car. I get more shouts and thumbs up from teenagers and even younger folks, and I always give them a wave or a thumbs up in return.

Personally, I find its the REAL, REAL old guy -- usually in an AP1 -- who in response to my wave gives me a dirty look like "yeah, I remember when I just bought the car too, junior," and who does not wave back.

However, most folks give a wave.

Everyone waves at me. Maybe you're just not that popular.

It seems to me like there is way too much complaining about what others do in this thread. If you wave at someone, that's your choice and I usually do the same. If someone doesn't wave at you, then that was their choice and shouldn't concern anyone but them. I make no distinction between AP1 and AP2 drivers. Whether I wave at a passing S or not has more to do with what is going on with me at the moment (talking to a passenger, thinking about that e-mail I need to send, etc) and I seldom attempt to distinguish the year of the S that I encounter.

I am early 30's corporate type. I have my car for about a month now and still waiting for the opportunity to wave to another S. I've driven it for over 650 miles and still have not seen another S on the road. I seen a few S on the road when I am not driving the S, like when I am riding on the bus during my commute or driving the wife's car.

I always wave and every time I've gotten a wave back,

I'll be 53 tomorrow and I wave at all that I see. I saw a black one with the top down right after I bought mine (last week) and the two college students went nuts when I waved to them. They were real happy, had big grins, and waved like crazy. It just seemed the right thing to do when I saw it. I know there are 5 other ones in town, but I've only seen 2 since I got mine.

Funny, but I've had several Miatas follow me and hug my bumper close in town. Sigh. It's gotta be envy. The sight of my Silverstone seems to bring out the bad side of them. (g)

As for having too much on my mind to wave, I only have the S 2000 on my mind once I strap in. That car takes all of my attention.

i've experienced the exact opposite. it's the ap1 drivers that don't wave. they stare but do not iniate the wave.
