Luis, interesting take on physics but you failed to mention why Hondata's research (among others) runs contrary to Mugens, and yes, evidently Charles. Did we all skip school that day? Formulas look good on blackboards but I would bet a day's worth of day trading profits that on the tarmac, there isn't one single Mugen CAI owner getting 20 additional horsepower at speed. I've run my car with ducting running directly into my PRM in temps of -30 degrees at speeds of 80 mph (want to give me a formula on the wind chill factor) and I can tell you there wasn't a 20hp difference between that day and the same run in July. Here's a thought...we have folks spending $1000 for catbacks that MIGHT deliver 5-6hp. I'm sure if Mugen's CAI was capable of delivering 20hp, they'd have sold a whole lot more of 'em by now. Hey, I love carbon fiber as much as the next guy but it would be nice if just ONE Mugen Cai owner would step up to the plate with proof their intake is making 20hp over stock.
The silence is deafening. Until then, you can dust off all the physics textbooks you want but I remain unconvinced. Cool post though.

I have both the airstuffer and heat shield. Nick's products are top quality and I couldn't be happier. The partnership between Rick and ZTEC combines some of the best customer service I have ever had. Here are a couple pics of my heatshield.

Stop ripping people off. $139! What are you smoking? This is a little insane. I'll arrange an s2000 meet and teach everyone here how to make these yourselves for $20. Price justification please.

1 sq. yard carbon $45.00 (carbon kevlar is even cheaper but you charge more for it)
1 qt. resin $12.00
1 qt gelcoat $18.00
1 Hr. work time/piece

and your little heatshield is maybe 1ft square at most. You can make 9 of these for $75 in materials. Don't think it can be done? I'll prove it. Who wants one for $40?

Well, as a retired journalist, I congratulate you on your clever interpretation of their words but it reminds me of democrats (I'm an independent FWIW) who claim foul over an annual budget cut because the increase in spending is 4%, not 6%. If horsepower is prevented from being "lost" it is horsepower gained over horsepower lost. The word "gain" still applies here. Bottom line....a car with a Mugen intake is not going to be 20hp quicker than one with the stock intake (as their formula ascertains in stated conditions). I'd be happy to be proven otherwise, at which point, I'd buy one.
