Weather Getting Hotter, Car Getting Quicker
I've had mine since April 2000, just turned 14, 900 miles. One of my first posts noted that my S2000 is a beauty but a slug. Partial throttle response was poor, the car had nothing unless the pedal were planted and you had the time to wait for VTEC transition to arrive and even then, only a modest rush to red line.
At about 7500 I took it in for service, they changed the oil did the TSBs and denied any responsibility for the transformation of my S2000 from a slug into a really quick ride.
Well, another 7000+ miles down the road, the weather is getting much warmer here in SoCal and my car has ascended to a higher and more wonderful level of performance notwithstanding the high ambient temp. Frisky! The engine pulls hard. I can chirp 2nd or 3rd with my new OEM SO2s. Partial throttle response is terrific. No reason for it all. The only engine mod is the JR air filter.
Just a happy note from SoCal.
Go figure. My F20C is breaking in nicely.

2x6 glad you finally getting a rush out of the S2k, I was saddened by your posts last year lamenting the lack of performance. Do you still have your Legend Coupe (I wish I had mine, but I am compensating )

By Gosh, Rick, I think you're right! I have to say, I just love them. When I lean my head back, I come to rest against something soft just in the right place instead of that head socket that Honda provides.
Yes, I still have my black/black 6 speed Legend coupe but I must say that I have upgraded things there somewhat. I just installed a set of Philips HIDs from UK, and love them. I had the axles, the entire clutch assembly, shift bushings replaced. It has 128K+ miles on it and runs like new (Mobil 1 5W50 every month since I got it new in 93) but better thanks to the RM Racing CA intake, Dinan Stage II chip, Banzai exhaust, Koni adjustable shocks, Eibach prokit springs. SCM braided stainless steel brake lines, Brembo cross drilled/slotted rotors, Porterfield R4S pads. Now that big girl is really quick. I had the hood, fenders and doors repainted because of some road rash on the hood. The car looks brand new as well. I'd post another picture but I don't want to upset Spaceneedle. Ah, what the heck, I guess I will post a couple for Legend lovers out there. There just isn't another big 6 with a 6 speed manual out there that I'd rather have. (I know the M3 and 330 are very nice).

Ahh~~. Nice Car. I have white one. It's bone stock as well. I've been deciding whether to mod legend or stook. I haven't made any conclusion yet.
Cheers to Legend & Stook.

Hi Nibble
There really isn't much out there for the Legend. Intake, Chip, Exhaust, suspension, brakes, wheels and tires. The Dinan Stage II is supposed to bump crank HP from 230 to 248. The intake and exhaust should give another ~15-20. BTW, I have the TSW Revos and Toyo Proxes T1S 215 50 17 Z tires.
I have more cosmetic mods on my S2000 than performance but really like them all.
Rick Hesel Console Cover, leather shift boot, 7/8 aeroscreen, Voodoo Ti shift knob, custom made headrests, MG Racing aluminum interior trim, 3 piece floor mats, MTX 325 watt amp, Polk Audio separates.
Performance: JR intake filter, RM Racing strut tower brace, Spoon lower front x brace, Spoon rear brace, braided stainless steel brake lines.
To do: second amp for Lucid/Rick style rear deck speaker installation.
Thinking about the PF Throttle body, or Spoon TB.

Haha, you know I love you, man.
But I really don't understand how hotter weather can improve your S2000's performance unless your car really sucked before the repairs.

I did not mean to suggest that the improvement in performance is due to the warmer weather. That would stand physics on its head. The fact that I am feeling a noticeable improvement despite the warmer weather indicates that the increase is substantial.
The most recent improvement was not due to any repairs. I attribute it to the breaking in process. Although I thought my car was sluggish before it turned 7500 miles, I thought it was quick after 7.5K. It just got quicker.
I thought it was interesting enough to note for the board, especially for anyone whose new S2000 is not running as quickly as they had hoped.

Well, I've hit 7000 miles on my Stook yesterday and 140,000 miles on Legend today. I'd like to see if there's difference after 7500 miles on stook.
BTW, Thanks. 2x6spds.
cheers,
