Default Weighted Shift Knobs - Bad for tranny?

So it has been proven that resting your hand on the shifter is bad for the transmission. Will a heavy knob have the same impact?

how heavy of a shift knob? if it was 7lbs, sure. that would be a HUGE knob.... anyway, with my experience, weighted shift knobs calmed some of the vibration from the drivetrain. hence, the driving experience was smoother. in my race cars i run super light knobs, as i don't care about vibration. up to you...

i'd bet it wouldnt be as significant, as increasing inertia on the thing is a bit different than your hand. your hand would be pulled about by your body and load the tranny differently. and an increase of 5 lbs on the knob makes inertia equivalent to 5 lbs of your hand pulling it only when you're pulling 1g.

then again, that could be more often....

whatever. i'll buy the new tranny at 150k instead of 152k cause i felt like having my hand on it. or i'll sell the car first.
