Default Weired steering problem while standstill !

I just got my 2000 S2K with 65K Miles on the clock. I just noticed that while the car is not moving / parking its steering feels lighter turning it to the right. Turning on the left hand side is harder. Front tires are both the same and I checked tire pressure and both are equal.

Driving the car normally at average speeds the steering feels the same on both directions and it does not pull on either side.

Can someone give me some advice on whats causing the problem ?

Why are you steering your parked car?

Maybe I didn't explain correctly. I noticed this while parking the car with the engine running.

leave your hand off the steering wheel while starting the car and see if the steering wheel "flicks" one way or the other when you start your car. If it does, your power steering rack is going bad.

This is a valid question.

Ever drive a big heavy old car without power steering and notice how it's nearly impossible to turn the wheel while parked? Use this memory as a guide - if the car is resisting the turning, don't try to overpower it into complying

You should avoid "dry" steering your car. It puts extra strain on various steering-related parts, and is potentially not great for your tires either. Make sure the car is moving forward or backward at slow or high speed if you're going to turn the steering wheel.

^^^ definitely not normal. I parallel park my car everyday at my house and have to turn the wheel while not moving. If i do start to move even at a slow speed and turn the wheel i wont make it into my tight parking spot!!!

I live in an "urban" environment and dont have the luxury of a driveway.

Still not healthy for the car. At least feather the clutch and move at a very low speed before cranking the wheel.
