I'm 20 and own an s2000, and where I work (engineering company) I get attention from almost everyone, and most of them do not know the make of the car. This is in Alabama, mind you, and even those who drive new cadillac's or porsches turn their heads to see the young guy in the brand new looking sports car. they all think its a 2005, and they all think its beautiful. Also, to be honest, I've never had a problem getting ladies, but one must admit that it is almost 30% easier to get any lady you'd want (in any age group, older ladies (30+) would be a harder catch but are not now) because, for some reason, the S just seems to make the driver look... different. Atleast that is my experience. I am the same person I was before I bought the car, but people sure do give me a different look nowadays if they see me in it.

I dont like/need any bling for this car.... its what I've wanted since I first saw it come out and read the numbers on it. perfect for me

sorry to pop in again, but i really was only wondering what you guys think driving expensive/trendy cars get you? do you get hookups cuz people want u to like them? do you only get to be full of yourself? do you actually get women?

the worth of the S was never in question.

i get more women.. i get hit on while stuck in traffic once in a while... or i'll see a girl looking and i'll say something.. next thing i know i got her number....

as for hookups.. not really, unless it's someone promotoing for a club or something.... they seem to flock over to try to make me come to their party/event...

however i also get looks of envy/jealousy.. and even the evil eye look

i never mention the car in conversation with girls. they only find out about the car after i have already hooked up with them. so no, the car has never been responsible for gotting me laid (which is a good thing). now on the other hand, a good looking car can help out some of the ugly dudes out there.

That is a commonly held misconception usually perpetuated by unattractive men who would rather blame their lack of success with females on not having a nice car than admit to themselves they are not physically attractive.

Although I understand the need to keep their fantasy alive where they can believe that if they had a nice automobile, they may have a chance, thus providing them some semblance of hope for the future, but it would be healthier if they just accepted that they aren't good looking and moved on with life alone. You cannot choose your genes, and there is no shame in that. To the same token, being attractive is not your doing, thus any expression of pride in your appearance or ostracizing of another based on a perceived difference is completely invalid.

Anyhow, if you're not at least decent looking, it doesn't matter what you drive.

Bling? Hmm. I really wouldnt associate my car as a bling mobile. Yes it does have a lot of Japan made aftermarket parts on it but thats my hobby. I do get tired of all the things people say. Its actually quite annoying. The worst of them all are the kids that say crap like "if I had the car it would look so much better and be so much faster". Like I give a shit about you or what you could or could not do with this car. Its irrelevant because at this moment in time on this earth in the year 2005 your driving a 1989 civic dx. Thats not my fault and that may be your prize. Just stop trying to impress your 16 year old girlfriend that your better than someone. Who really cares. I dont. We are all equal whether you like it or not. It really does get old. Or you get the guys that have seen your car in Import Tuner or Super Street wanting to talk to you. Its cool to a point. Not every time I go out to eat with my wife or goto the beach or anywhere. Its not about expression. To me its about a hobby just like my father had with his 60s and 70s cars and working on them and installing parts and driving the car like its suppose to be driven and to have fun. Thats the bottom line.

What does "bling" get you? An empty wallet and a slow car. At least if we are talking "bling" in the rap video sense of 22" spinners, 300 lb sound systems, and yak skin headliners.

If we are talking about bling factor in the sense of having a car that gets attention, the S definitely has it. What do I get (aside from a great car)? Compliments, questions, conversations, friends (other local S owners) and the occasional comment from a punk ass kid. None of these were reasons I got the car.
