In my rant on financial awareness I completely forgot to talk about the cars. My gf daily drives the 350Z in my sig and my S2000 is a weekend car. We both agree that the S2000 is hands-down the more fun, more challenging, and more rewarding car to drive. But to get from point A to point B, the 350Z's smoother ride, rock-solid chassis, climate control, and broader power band make it a much more relaxing way to move nearly as quick. People's tastes differ. Personally I feel like I'm wearing another person's underwear when I drive the 350Z. Even if they are really nice underwear, they don't fit quite right and I don't feel comfortable emotionally in them.

i tink your sig pretty much sums it up between the Z and the S.

my brother has an 03 350z and from the few times ive driven it, it just seems more civilized and less "harsh".

the S is like a whore, it just wants to have fun and be abused, lol.

I say you get that S2k to 300k miles, that would be something to talk about. And anytime I ever hear about someone saying "I want to pay this a month" i laugh as that's exactly how you get into these type of situations. Like others have said don't do it.

i would agree...try to find a cheap beater....i have a '99 cavalier with 180k miles i drive on rainy days.....gets good gas mileage and cheap to maintain...plus when you add it to your ins list it as the daily driver and add the S as a recreational vehicle....i'm 30 with a clean record and my ins is 110/month for both veh...liability on cavalier full 500 ded. on s2000

Thanks for the replies everyone. I completely understand the situation I'm in believe me lol, I'm in motorcycle sales and deal with people like me all the time. Some times I guess it's just hard to disconnect the emotion from it and just look at the hard numbers. I appreciate everyone's input though. I've decided I'll stick to my guns and hang on to the S. I've put a lot into the car aside from the purchase cost and plus not that it matters much but there is the sentimental quotient of it. The car has fresh(er) motor and differential in it so I think the major things are covered for now. I'm going to get a valve retainer check today just to make sure things are ok upstairs and that'll be it for now. I'm just going to pick up a beater for the winter when the time comes. I'd be happier paying off the 12000 on my S and enjoying my drive to work AM rather than to pay of 8000 on a civic I don't want. Thoughts?
Sounds like you've got it all under control and just need a bit of time to climb out of the debt. I think that's the route I'd choose if I were in your shoes. I hope your S runs strong for many more miles to come!

The Z is not a convertible so that would shoot it down for me.

With the mileage you put on a car, you will be doing the same with the Z sooner or later, so I would keep the S and save up some money for repairs.

Life is too short to not drive the car you want...drive the S and forget all else (unless its a motorcycle)
