Default What does "push cancel" mean?

I know that the + and - buttons on the dash change the display brightness, that there's a setting for lights on and lights off which are saved independently, and that you can turn the display onto daylight brightness with the lights on by holding the + button and return it to the pre-set lights on brightness with the - button.

All very clear.

But I can't figure out what "push cancel" means printed on the dash. Is it an imperative? As in, "you push cancel?" What gets "cancelled?"

Is it two separate functions? As in "push" and "cancel?" What gets cancelled?

How come on the other side of the dash, there's a graphic line from the mph/kph typeface to the button, but not on the push cancel side?

I'm sure it's something obvious, but I can't seem to grok it. Can anyone explain it to me?

Thanks.

This completely cancels the dimmer, rather than adjust it a little.

If you put your lights on during the day the display goes dim. Hold the button for about 2 seconds and the display returns to the normal brightness.
