X reached his tolerance limit.

Someone started whining to him about a cartoon drawing of an S. It was THEIR cartoon and should never be used by anyone else (as part of a signature for example).

X called him on it with a simple and very logical response, then the guy got all his buddies to start spouting idiocy on Xviper threads to get even.

X had enough. I think he felt that Kindercare had taken over the forum, and he moved on. It was a final straw on the camel's back, but a classic example of the worst sort.
I've met Dave, and I like him. That being said:

1) he was wrong about the copyright issue involved, and

2) your depiction of the events is not very accurate.

The relevant threads are still available on this site. Anybody who wants to read them for themselves can do so, and then make their own judgement about what happened.

Ruprecht - you are missing information and filling the gaps with assumptions - you'll understand what I mean someday

despite other issues x-viper was definetly a great source of information and sorely missed - I have used most of his DIY threads and they have been very helpful.

Thank god the basic design of the car has not changed in 9 years

I did a quick search for the threads before I posted and couldn't find them (my own fault I reckon).

Good to hear they are out there for folks that want to read about it for themselves.

He is probably the foremost living resource/authority on the S2000.
He's just a regular guy. Part of the problem was this attitude that he's the Oracle of Delphi or something. Which then led to young gunslingers determined to make their reputation by taking down the legend. At the same time, since he had posted so much useful stuff other people seemed to take it for granted that he would be their personal internet mechanic.

In this case, he made a mistake. A whole bunch of people jumped on him really hard for it. A rare chance to get a dig in.

A guy gets tired of that stuff, eventually.

Oh dear, you're not even seven yet!

I think the status is that we get to drive around the original S2000, as Honda intended it.

(Note to all: Not an AP1 v. AP2, simply remarking on the age of our vehicles.)
