What are the long term effects of oil buring?
Just curious on the long term affects of burning a quart and a bit per regular 3750 mile oil change interval??

"The long-term problem with burning oil is that the phosphorous, which is part of the anti-wear additive ZDDP, will "poison" the catalytic converter in time. It can also coat the oxygen sensors and cause problems there. Burning oil will decrease the life of the spark plugs and may cause problems with sludge buildup in the engine, including sticking rings.
Burning oil is hard on an engine. You should do all you can to minimize it."
What do you guys think since burning a quart is normal for us per oil change interval.

I am right at 6500 and oil burning is slowly tappering off for me. I might put in 1/8 quart before the next change. BTW I change every 3k. I started out burning a lot though more than a quart before first change.
In the first 4k miles, I burned 1.3 quarts... On the next oil change (2800-2900 mile increment), I burned about a half quart.... Then on the next oil change interval (~2600 miles), I didn't burn any... At that point, I switched the car over to Mobil 1.
