just out of curiousity, what does a test pipe do or used for?

Basically, you are replacing the cat on the car w/ a straight pipe. They call it a test pipe because it's not legal and is only to be used for "testing" purposes...

um, yeah, like that's what really happens.

so if its replacing a cat converter..will the noise be much louder with a test pipe on?

yes, it was very noticable difference. but, that was kinda part of the reason for me, as well as an increase (just slightly) in HP at high RPMs.

dang..so it might just sound like a beehive rice rocket with a test pipe on the exhaust eh?

surely the exhaust will be louder but it really depends on which kind of exhaust u are running with. With my T1R cat-back, i have the test pipe on and the sound is still tolarable in all the rpm range. But power increase is obvious with it for sure.
