Hey guys, I am in a jam. There's a local seller offering me 12k for a 02 S2000 with 65k miles. Clean title and near perfect condition. I also have a friend in another state offering me his 00 S2000 with 37k miles offering it for 14k. Clean title and everything as well. What to do, what to do.

 

Id get the 2002. Its cheaper, pretty low miles, and has glass rear window. also 2002 up had leather on the side of tje center console I beleive instead of carpet. It had a chrome ring around the tail lights which look bettter and hopefully has upgraded banjo bolts (that was upgraded in the middle of 2002model year). Good luck man I am sure both cars will be jems!!

 

Thanks for the input. The 00 actually upgraded to the rear glass window too with AP2 red and black seats. Dang 37k miles and 65k miles is a big difference too right?

 

Get the 02. The newer the better since in the 02 you get the rear glass window, and I believe leather console, and tweeters in the door. Someone correct me if I'm wrong

 

02 for sure.

While 65k miles isnt a ton for an S, it is double the 37k on the 02 model.
Depending on your driving habits, that could be up to almost 3 extra years of life of the car (12k/year average)

02 also comes with
- tweeters in the door
- chrome rings on the taillights
- leather center console
- leather wrap on the shift knob (really nice on hot days)
- remapped ECU that doesnt run as rich
- glass rear window

More stuff than that that I know I'm forgetting.

All AP1's are nearly identical. Most major difference is glass rear window which the 00 has already ugraded.

Go for the 00, it has half the miles, half the abuse, half the wear, and that much more of a life span. It's most likely in better overall condition as well.

Don't get hung up on the year. They are both AP1s. You are not weighing AP1 vs. AP2 where there is more to contrast.

Thanks for the input jbkonis. I was leaning towards the 00 one but no one has really giving me the nod to go for it. Yeah this would be my first S2000 and I'm not ready to pull the trigger without advice I guess.
