If it were me I would get the 00. If the owner put the glass rear window (hey look I actually read the thread! ) the owner probably upgraded other parts to ap2. Just a guess anyways. Would be nice to have the first year of the car.

kfung, if it makes you feel any better, I paid $19,995 to get an 03 AP1 (I wanted the F20C having had both a new AP1 & AP2 in the past) with 8,860 miles.

The lower the miles, the closer it is to being "fresh and new". There is something to be said for overall toll of wear and tear. Not just on the engine, but the seats, carpets, scrapes on the interior, chips/scratches, faded headlights, rattles, dried out rubber seals on the top (assuming Shin-Etsu greece wasn't used), etc...

You also mentioned the 00 is owned by a friend. If this person is truly a friend and you have faith in his/her integrity, then I highly suggest you go with that car over a total strangers who will most likely at least "fudge" the facts when it comes to maintenance.
