Default What year to buy?

I want to purchase an S2000 but do not have any idea what to look for, what to stay away from, factory changes from model year to model year, etc. It will not be a daily driver and I want the car to be very very nice.

I currently own a Porsche 993TT so I know all the things to look for, Pre-purchase inspections and so forth for Porsche but an clueless regarding the S2000.

I am thinking about a $25K budget, give or take a couple of thousand.

TIA for the help!

I searched for one of dlq04's classic and detailed replies to this type of question but was unsuccessful.

Do a search for "differences", "years", "models" etc. and you should find all you need.

I'd go for the '02 or '03 to have the hi- reving engine and glass window. Stay away from cars with add on's. Look for one that looks like someone's wife drove and has been pampered, and she's selling it because it's not very comfortable as it is cute.... Chances are that if they put a lot of aftermarket stuff on it, they drove it hard (hence selling it so soon), it got in accident- so they put the body parts on when it was getting repaired. You should be able to find a prestine, low mileage example car for you budget.

Actually, I heard that some folks were finding some of the remaining '03 models (new) at some dealers for around 27-28K or thereabouts... I could be wrong about that...

Worth calling around.
