My favorite will probably always be when I was warming up my car to drive home from work and this 30-40 year old roughly lol he walked up with a beer and said
Guy: #### Yea, Nice Car Man
Me: Thanks Man, I love it
Guy: Nothing like a good ol' BMW huh
Me: whoa there buddy.. It's a Honda
Guy: Kids these days.. Don't even know what they drive, (walked away in disappointment)

Hahahahaha guy made my day!

Gave some guy who was likely in his 40's a ride in my S2000 to a gas station after he broke down just a few miles from my house on the backroads....He asked "Is this a Porsche?"

I really don't get the porche thing. their cars have looked basically the same for about 40 years, and the S looks nothing like one. How can one get them confused?

because people have no idea and porsche is the only 2-seater brand they can think of. my buddy posted a picture of his Mercedes SLK250 and one of the comments was 'is that a honda s2000 or bmw something?'

and you can't blame them.. the S2000 is a relatively rare car. i wasn't really interested in them until a week before i bought one after seeing it on Top Gear. if this was a year and a half ago and you asked me to name all the roadsters i could think of, i probably wouldn't have mentioned the S.

My S2K doesn't get nearly as much attention and questions as to what it is as my S14. Part of it is the fact that the S14 is de-baged. But I have to say most of it is because you just rarely see another around here and it's a freaking cool looking car if I do say so myself.
i used to think that people thought i had a cool car when i had my zenki...but now that i think of it they all just thought it was a old POS ricer car. it's not until i got my s2000 that people started "respecting" the car i had. but maybe if we had kouki it'd be a different story...lol jk.

i never had people trying to guess what car i had, but i did get a lot of ppl asking me if that's a brand new car even tho my car is full of dings and dents

From what I can tell, the major reason to slam a car is strictly appearance.

It seems that most people who argue that slamming the car is for handling aren't actually sure what good handling feels like at all. The butt-dyno tells them they spent lots of money and it's awesomely low, so it MUST be faster.

The best approach is to NOT screw with the suspension until you're good enough with the car to know:

1. Whether the problem is with the car's handling or your driving.
2. If it's the handling, what exactly that problem is.
3. What you adjust in order to fix it.
4. That just buying shiny parts doesn't necessarily fix anything.
5. That even if you buy the perfect suspension, you'll probably need to adjust it correctly. If you can.

When in doubt, measure it. In this case, lap times are a good metric.
