What's the point in getting bolt ons?
I bought an exhaust because because I wanted my car to sound better...that's all. As long as the car didn't loose HP, I was fine. That's why I got an HKS dual. No other performance mods here because I agree with OP
I quickly realize on the track that the car's fast enough as is.

Wow... watch inline pros s2000's. That is like telling you not to mod your EG.
I completely forgot to add this... stock z06 runs what again? Very fast times right? I dont know, but mabey I was imagining this then.

Don't give me none of that bull that its just a stock 7.0 liter engine. I have just as much respect for the Corvette, I used to own one and loved it.

people that have something to prove.
Anyway, I'd consider bolt-ons is just to make the car more to my liking. The exhaust note out of VTEC is a little to docile for me, so that's why I've considered an intake/exhaust for the car. Since it doesn't make a lot of power anyway, and since I think the single exhausts (esp. the 70mm) would be too loud, I'd go with a dual setup.
The $1000 spent would be justified by increasing my enjoyment of the car, which is what my S2000 is for.
I have nothing to prove in my s. I did however have a 500hp tuner car and did have something to prove, out and about always trying to bust someones ass on the street. That got me nowhere but with a crappy driving record and higher insurance rates. The whole "something" to prove thing is just stupid and rediculous imo. I didnt buy the s to "rip" the street but rather a vehicle that was pure in all aspects of the driving experience. So when Joe the mustang driver pulls up to me and laughs at my exhaust or my suspension, honestly, I could give a hoot less. If I wanted a fast car, I would go out and buy one

I used to have a cai, J's header, T1R 70mm single, vafc2, 4.77 gears, and 200 pounds removed from the car.
three months into ownership I got some clear sidemarkers
6 months into ownership I got some coilovers
one year into ownership I got a Vortech
one and a half years into ownership I got some stereo equipment
wheels,lip,etc,etc.....
I will be over 400whp within a month or so....I'm looking into making my car "sound" good now. thinking about picking up an exhaust. I'm sure I'll only pick up about 10whp or so from it, but

S2000 was not made for the tuner. It was a representation of Honda's technology and F1 history. Plus they wanted to make a really cool car that was fast (back then). That is about the end of the line. this car is supposed to be a collectors car, enthusiast car, vintange car, what ever you want to call it, but it is the S2000.
No other Honda has ever been made this way just like the NSX. You cannot bring it down to the leauge of young guys modding and street racing. Who cares about what they think. We all know what it is and why its here. It by no means is here to be the saturday night drag racer these kids want it to be. Its an icon to me

I bought an exhaust just because my stock one had a dent on the passanger side and the chrome tip came off. I wrote a thread on how this happend but im lazy and dont feel like linking. Stock exhaust was alright, but I felt like getting something new.
Its my first mod i've ever done, I don't think im the top sh-- because of it.
I enjoy listening to my car now after getting an exhaust.
I can't really listen to music anymore, but it doesnt hurt me any.
My decision wasn't performance related intirely.
If any gains were made thats alright, my intentions were not to be a street racer that everyone in that crowd thinks is fast.
I bought this car to distance myself further from those people.
Simply put, I don't care what they think and say. Why would I let some kid alter my decisions for MY car? I don't plan being the single minded retard that is constantly playing a game of dominance with any vehicle that is modded or "looks" fast.
I don't think S2000 needs any more "power" upgrade, so for future if i were to get an exhaust, it would be a dual because it looks better, 240 hp is way more than enough just driving normally on the streets and maybe tracks for myself, but maybe for some of the member here is not enough so they going turbo instead. I like N/A Cars and my car would probably stay that way.
I think the point of bolt on is that you get to fix up your car to what YOU like, not other people, regardless of the car gaining hp or not, its your ride, do what you want.

Do your research. most of the time its not about gains, its about the sound. IMO opinion the money i spent on my exhaust is the best 800 ive ever spent.
Do what research? I was expressing my perspective coming from other cars that responded enormously well to bolt-ons. If you think $800 is the price you want to pay for "sound" then by all means spend away.
